Not a Belfast Christmas Puppy - Luther hits 10 weeks

It must be difficult holding your breath for an entire week, but it was worth it.. Luther [HuskyInBelfast] has now hit ten weeks, so how did he get on, is there anything worth reading and more importantly, can you just watch a video!

Yes ! :) ...

As you will know from the previous post, Luther is a sneaky, crafty and mischievous wee blighter and over this week he mastered the art of escapestry (is that a word?) , anyway, you know what i'm getting at..

He plots in the daytime, waiting for the evening, then he makes ever improved attempts to escape his sleeping area during the night... the cheeky pup can now operate a sliding lock, this is a worry (last week i told you he watches me when using the door keys - taking notes.... he should do a canine remake of the great escape !

Huskies are famed for their superior intellect and Luther is clearly a fine example of this, his next task will be learning how to pack the dishwasher and then learning to cook potato fondant.

So, Luthers starring achievement in the week was his super 8 minute mile, well, more accurately, he is at just under two minutes for a quarter of a mile, plus he has pretty much mastered (but often simply ignores unless there's food on offer) his basic commands,,, Sit, Stay, Down, Come, he is also walking very well on the lead both short and slack and is currently correcting some child like errors (according to Luther) in Beethoven's 5th, amending the theory of relativity and next week he's on a Brandy tasting course!

Over this week Luther further honed his superhero skill of turning me invisible, as such its been yet another week of people stopping us on walks only for them to talk to Luther and act as though i'm not even there, i'm beginning to doubt my own existence...

This is the time of the year where many many people who bought a puppy as an xmas gift regret their choice, that regret being based on the harsh reality of a puppy crapping and peeing anywhere and everywhere (a bit like a drunken brit abroad - but not as bad) tends to strike most well meaning but still moronic people pretty hard, as such, Facebook and other social media have been packed with adverts for puppies, infact, this sale extravaganza started on Boxing day.
Yesterday was an advert for a 15 month Husky... I was about 5 seconds away from taking him, until of course I was reminded by the significant other that my 'perks' would be rationed if i brought in yet another scheming beast into her life... That was the end of that idea then ! ;-)

So, to answer the most popular question from yesterdays walk at Shaws Bridge (Belfast)...
Luther is not an Xmas Puppy!
Read the previous blog (from 3 to 9 weeks) for that background : ).

Oh, just before the video...
Luther is now learning his trade of howling and talking like a slurring drunk, so that'll be the both of howling  and bemoaning the crap on telly then !
More on this next week ... aarrghhhh !

Anyway... check out the following video... its ace :)

All the beast and a super new years !
Mark (beauty) and Luther (the beast)
